WOYWW - 8.11.17
Happy Wednesday !
My second time posting for WOYWW and I am really enjoying myself, if you want to take part pop over to this pace. Its great fun seeing each others desks and crafty mess haha.
This is my desk, a mess I know hehe!
Okay, so working left to right on the first picture. Lots of ribbon on the left and a little jar of metal embellishments, a tub of bows, stick pins, mdf butterflies, a round box covered with vintage style tissue paper, small flowers and gems. Lastly on the right is adhesive glitter paper.
This is a closer view, with all the goodies on my desk I decorated the box lid.
So now I start being crafty if you would like to see the step by step, please read on.
So to begin, I ripped some of the glitter adhesive paper into strips and stuck them randomly on the box. Next I cut some pieces of different ribbon and folded them in half. I then stuck the cut ends to the lid. I did this to add dimension to my arrangement. Then I chose the small metal scissors charm and threaded some white ribbon through the hole. I then stuck the ends of the ribbon to the box. I love adding different pieces from my stash as it adds lots of interest to any crafty project. A couple of cream stick pins finished off this base layer for the lid.
I stamped some floral images and a butterfly. Unfortunately I do not know the company that made these stamps. I used versafine black onyx ink and heat embossed these stamps with clear WOW embossing powder. I love this embossing powder as the result is lovely and smooth in my opinion.
I then fussy cut these stamped images ready to adhere to the lid.
Now I grabbed some white card from my offcuts and used four distress oxide inks in this next step.
I pressed the ink pads directly to the dry cardstock in different areas, I repeated this with each colour.
Then I sprayed both pages with water until the ink runs. I love the texture left from using the ink pad directly.
I then dried them with a heat gun and repeated the process a few times, Dried again when I was happy with the result.
For the next step, I used some of my autumn leaves dies by Sara Davies. These dies are beautiful, I would definitely recommend them.
The different areas of colour on the oxide pages really add a lot to these little paper embellishments.
I then used Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic glue to stick the leaves and flowers I die cut to the lid. I arranged them on top of the ribbon and some peeking out underneath. I do the same with the heat embossed images.
Then add some gems, sparkle is a must!
Here is the finished piece, I hope you enjoyed this project. Be sure to hop over to Julia on the WOYWW page, its a lovely friendly group.
Thank you for spending some of your day with me.
Crafty hugs and see you tomorrow!
Ellie x

DeleteYour box is so prety, Ellie! I love all the layers, and the subtle colour from the distress oxides. Nice to see it come together step by step. Thank you for your visit. Things show no sign of settling down just yet - we've got ongong problems with both kittens pulling their stitches out so it's another vet visit this p.m. I'm spending all my time with them at the moment to stop them doing any more damaage.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW,

ReplyDeleteMonica #32
Hey Monica!Thank you for stopping by. Have a great week xx
DeleteNice to see you back for a second time, keep joining us with your lovely work. Did enjoy the box and the autumnal leaves are fabulous! Of course I can imagine the addition of a bit of sparkle adds to the beauty of it too, pity we don't see things like that in photos. Sometimes my cards would have benefitted from seeing the sparkle but hey, your box is lovely anyhow.
ReplyDeleteSee you next week
Hugs, Neet 2 xx
ps I just used an ordinary roller ball pen for the fine lettering and a Macron pen for the larger writing. Any pen would do with a reasonable but not too thick end.
Hey Neet. Yes photos don't always show the lovely details we put into our crafty projects. You have given me lots of ideas and I have been scribbling with a fine liner this evening. I'll pop some pics in tomorrow's post xxx
DeleteHi Ellie thanks for popping by. The box is gorgeous and the recipient will be very fortunate indeed. Anne x #26

DeleteHappy Very Belated WOYWW and welcome to the family (I missed last week). Thank you for sharing the details of your gorgeous crafty make. I think I may need to treat myself to a leaf die. I have very few dies in my craft room, but had to sell my Silhouette Cameo last year (to pay a vets bill) and really miss having 'shapes' to use in my crafting. Ali x #28
ReplyDeleteI'd love it if my desk was only that untidy! Great box lid and thanks for sharing how you made it . Finally catching up on my WOYWW visits. Cara #33
ReplyDeletePretty project. I love how you got the mottled coloring for the base. Thanks for stopping by my place, Ellie. always a pleasure. Creative Blessings! Kelly #30
