4x4 cardstock tile

Image
Good crafty afternoon! So today is a step by step of decorating a tile. I stacked and glued some thick cardstock to make the tile thick and heavy. For the base of the tile I'm using a piece of kitchen roll I used to mop up a different project. I glued these two thick cardstock squares ontop of eachother using collall glue. Next I glued the tissue down using my Matt mod podge. letting it dry Now I trimmed off the excess.     I used some patterned tissues and used mod podge again to adhere. Using an old credit or gift card I dipped it in white acrylic paint, then dragged the card in different directions on the tile.     I used my splodges stamp set by Phill Martin and used versafine black ink. I grabbed some paints and did a patch of paint in the centre of the tile. Using Faber castell pastels I scribbled and smudged ontop of the paint patch. To finish up, I found some co ordinating gems and ephemera. I ad...

Fingers and sponges

Image
Good afternoon everyone! So today I would like to share an art journal page I have just finished. Here is the step by step :) I began with a black page, I applied white acrylic paint by pebeo. I did this roughly as I wanted an imperfect look. Next I used my fingers( yes get stuck in hehe) to apply blue paint and blue stamp paint. Again do this messily, it's not meant to be perfect. I next, using my finger, again, smeared the page with little areas of crazing medium. I dried this with a heat gun. This is the result so far. You should be able to see little areas of white peeking through. If not, get the white and pick a finger to scribble some on with. I next used an alphabet stencil from clarity. I applied seedless preserves oxide ink using a sponge. I moved the stencil about as I didn't want straight tidy lines. Heat dried again. Grab some patterned paper that matches the colour scheme. Tear bits up. I stuck these torn pieces down with Matt mod po...

Background journal pages

Image
Happy Sunday friends! So today I would like to share some backgrounds for my journal pages. The first one I used a Christmas napkin for the majority of it. I separated the Ply on the napkin and mod podged the patterned tissue down. Once dry I trimmed any messy edges and used some of my Faber Castell oil pastel in red. I added this in empty looking areas and smudged it with my fingers. I next used the pastel pink oil pastel and did the same for some highlights. Finally I used my Spectrum noir metallic pencils and scribbled here and there in different colours. This completes my first page, all it needs now is a focal point. For the other page, I used some patterned tissue paper, I cut it into different width strips and adhered with mod podge. Next used some of my vintage washi tape, I used 2 strips of this. To fill the gaps I again used my metallic pencils and coloured in the gaps. The pencils are so pretty and shimmery. This is then ready for a vintage style topper...

Just a little thank you...

Good Afternoon friends! So I have spent today making a few thank you cards for friends and family. To make the backgrounds for these cards I used my distress oxides. I applied these using  some cut and dry foam squares I cut out. The bottom image is a small tag I made by inking the background with frayed burlap, fired brick and ....something preserves haha! I stamped onto this with Momento tuxedo black ink. The 'thanks'is by your next stamp, chameleon set. The hot air balloon is by docrafts I believe.  The oxide colours I used were, fired brick, picked raspberry, abandoned coral, lucky clover, twisted citron and wild honey.  I used chameleons stamps by Your next stamp, the owl stamp is by Clarity stamp and the ivy and lanterns are by Joanna sheen. I coloured the images using my spectrum noir graphite pencils. I am loving using these, when you add water the colour pops beautifully. I glued the images using Cosmic shimmer acrylic glue on som...

Birdy art journal page step by step

Image
Hello to you all! So today I am going to share a step by step with you, of an art journal page I completed yesterday. To start I ripped up some old book pages into strips, I then applied them to a piece of cardstock using Matt mod podge. Once dry I trimmed the edges to tidy it up. Next I got my stamp set by Graphic 45, called 'midnight masquerade ' I only used the border stamp which has flourishes. I stamped this across my piece using memento dew drop ink in green and also Artistry ink in green. To add some more texture and shimmer I applied a small blob of Cosmic Shimmer Lustre paint, in green to a stamping block. I added a little bit of water to this and using a paintbrush I flicked it at my page. Next I cut out a bird I found in an old book and fussy cut him out. I thought his colouring matched the page perfectly. I stuck him down and covered him with glossy mod podge. Finally I stamped the word 'Magical' using Archival black ink, twice on the pa...
