Hello Retro!

Hello Papercrafters,

How are we already half way into another week, this year is disappearing before I have chance to blink!

I have been working on this cute little card, using products from my recent haul. If you would like to watch my crafty hauls, head over to my youtube channel.

This card is giving me retro 70's vibes, anyone else think so?

Products I used:

 Simon Says Stamp Hello Die

Concord & 9th Mod Turnabout Stamp

Distress Oxide inks - Spiced Marmalade, Antique Linen, Peeled Paint and Faded Jeans

Sentimentally Yours Charming Squares Die Set

Zig Wink Of Stella Brush Pen

 Method:

The first step in making this card, was using the turnabout stamp, these are great fun and easy to use. I used my Tim Holtz Stamping Platform when using this stamp. First I stamped with Spice Marmalade, then wiped the stamp, rotated it 90 degrees and reinked with antique linen. After stamping that, I repeated the process with the other colours. Top Tip: Keep turning the stamp in the same direct each time, ensure the positioning of the stamp and cardstock dont move. Once this has been repeated, resulting in 4 different colours, its then time to die cut.

I am hooked on my Sentimentally Yours layering dies as the moment, so I used the Charming Squares. I cut this into my background I just created. Next I snipped the loops off the right side of the square, then used a paper trimmer to take a couple of cms off the bottom of the square. This then allowed me to line the bottom right of my patterned square up, with the bottom right of my white card blank.

I adhered this with glue adhesive and put something heavy ontop to prevent warping.

While that dried, I used the hello dies from SSS to make my sentiment. I grabbed some plain white cardstock, inked one piece with the peeled paint oxide ink, then inked the other with Antique linen oxide ink. Using corresponding colours, really helps to tie your design together.

The inked pieces were then put through the cutting maching. I decided to have the peeled paint as the shadow layer and antique linen as the sentiment layer. I adhered them together using double sided tape as the inks are water reactive.

To finish assembling the card, I removed the weight keeping my card flat, then attached the sentiment offset to the left using foam tape. I quickly brushed my glitter wink of stella brush over the sentiment as a final touch.

I hope you liked this card!

Thank you for visiting my little craft space,

Ellie x
